Building on last week’s “No Input” game theme (see Head Breaker, Silence Your Body and Talk to the Cat), I’ve decided to run with another theme for this coming week: “unhappy objects.”
Achievements. Trophies. Leaderboards. High scores. We are a community and culture fixated on games trying to make us happy.
But what if they didn’t?
What if games were always ‘Hard’? What if they didn’t reward, but always punished? What they were not just “difficult,” but openly mocked our progress? If somehow ‘happiness’ is undeclared component of how we think of games, what would happen if it wasn’t there?
Yes, Lord is the first tiny step in this new series. Use arrow keys to move and spacebar to jump. Obey.
