Play and Game Studies Conferences: List and Calendar!

Alongside my position as the Graduate Student Representative for the Council of Play and Game Studies (CPGS) for the Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC), I’ve been collecting conferences into a Google Spreadsheet. Too often over the last few years, I’ve seen, people have told me they didn’t know a conference or presentation opportunity existed until after it was over. Now there’s a list!

While not enough play and games conferences repeat annually, the current listing is a strong start to collecting and sharing resources like these. I’m even planning on eventually getting around to building a ‘game development conference’ list at some point later this year since the cross-over between studying and development in play and game studies is pretty heavy at times.

Recently, in helping correlate the list with call-for-papers, I also moved things into a Google Calendar format. If you prefer to work from an agenda or check out where the next conference will be held, that’s a great place to start.

Finally, I’m also taking submissions! If you know of a conference that is not on the list, let me know via my e-mail address (check the sidebar on the website) or via Twitter. I’ll update things from there. And if you also know of an open call-for-papers, pass that along as well! Right now, I only update when I get a ping about something new or roughly every few months to check for announcements on the various sites in the list.
